'Cell Phones, Conversations and Coffee' (CCC) is the first course ever to be able to offer organizations concrete strategies to reduce the greatest risk drivers face... distracted driving.
According to a 2006 study by the NHSTA, nearly 8 out of 10 collisions are caused by driver inattention and distractedness. CCC will certainly become the new standard in corporate driver training.
CCC presents a shift in driver safety training, recognizing driving for what it is - a highly complex cognitive task. Errors in cognition are recognized to be caused by either a state of inattention, multitasking or a distraction.
CCC provides information so that the driver:
- recognizes the signs of being distracted
- understands how the task of driving can be compromised if driving does not remain the primary focus due to either inattention or distraction.
- learns to become insightful if they are to become successful in the quest for crash free driving
- recognizes the need to allocate attention where and when it is needed
- learns to divide attention appropriately as part of driving and,
- recognizes that the limiting characteristic is to understand the demand of driving at any given moment in time
It is the objective of this workshop to bring these issues to the forefront.
The participants will understand that as the task load increases the driver must make reductions in the distraction, compensations in the driving, or both. Insight is a large component of the workshop.
This program was extensively field tested and has met the stringent standards of the RSEA curriculum review. The program accommodates different road user groups and their specific needs. CCC is a welcome addition to road safety programs across Canada and the Untied States.
A-1 Driving Specialists has three driver trainers certified to teach CCC and are available to provide this course anywhere in Canada.
