- the Highway Traffic Act and the Ambulance Act of Ontario
- Defensive and Cooperative Driving Principles – plan ahead, be seen, and create escapes
- pre-shift vehicle inspections
- Emergency Response Driving and “Red Mist” – recognition of internal and external distractions and their effects on driving performance
- identifying the “Primary Task” and recognizing “Secondary Tasks” and the necessity of managing the driving environment in dynamic situations
- situation analysis of collision-producing traffic scenarios
- safe backing techniques
- time and space management
- vehicle handling
- intersection hazards
- the risk of “Wakes Accidents”
